God I want a bell so badly, seems the iPod brigade are out in force at the moment. Anyone noticed that they seem to do it in threes? If someone steps out and then maybe has a look at the oncoming traffic they've just stepped into, seems to me two more about to do the same.
Exactly how I managed to smack into a young lady last summer - this bloke on the right (who had seen and acknowledged me) started to cross, and 3 or 4 people on the other side saw him crossing and *without looking *started to cross too - this resulted in my front wheel going between this poor girls legs, and my bars going into her belly!
Lucky it was me, as only a couple of seconds behind me were cars that they had neglected to notice too. It was a right fucking mess. And she had an iPod on so didn't hear my yell - but it wouldn't have done much good as I was only about 2 metres away when they went into the road. -

I fucking hate headphones. Why must people insist on listening to music all the bleeding time? Why can't you just take part in life with all the senses you happen to be able to use?

headphone aren't the problem, people simply are by not looking before they cross.
in fact, you now have a solution to the problem, from now on you know that on a somewhat busy crossing, if one person cross, expected other to do the same without looking.
this way you'll prevent yourself from being in a pickle.

The horn would get through to drivers at least. I was flying along this morning and this dude basically turned out left, right in front of me, managed to swerve round him, then he boxed me into the side of the road... to the point where my pedal was about to meet the kerb so i banged on his window. He then accelerated away - about 20 metres in front, parked - flung his door open in front of me - got out, started ranting and raving like maniac - then literally tried to pull me off my bike - as i was moving. He didn`t achieve it luckily. talk about fucking road rage dude was a fucking psycho. Bombed off into the distance afterwards. Hairy situation though!
