future reference, don't listen to at least 3/4's of this forum.
that ring has no after support, only one side?? would be ok for mtb, but seems as you want to use it fixed, you are gonna pull it the other way. not good -

Both the ramped 9 speed mtb chainring I was running and the current 3/32 mtb chainring I have on my polo bike is running fine. I think your statement is pretty generalised and you only came in to problems because of the nature of the design of that particular chainring. One with a more uniform and symmetrical shape would probably have been fine.

Could've told you that was going to happen

I had posted the photo of my chainring, I understand some MTB chainrings might be ok. But in the future I will try to use components built for purpose.
I have to say it's pretty incredible that chainring collapsed after only 2 hours of light riding!

take it back, exchange for something more suitable.

Shit man! I'm glad the chainring failure didn't end up in a serious crash or anything. For my part in the original thread... I appologise... for the record MTB chainrings didn't attack my village (hog flu did), my brother is alive and well and living in Holland, my fiance ran off all by herself! ;)
Some might remember I posted recently that a shop had told me to change my chainring from an MTB one to proper fixed one. I asked on here if it was dangerous like the shop had told me.

There was a good amount of banter of course:
"MTB chainrings attacked my village, killed my brother and ran off with my Fiancé"
"Guys, this isn't funny, my brother was killed by a mtb chainring..."
The consensus it seemed was that mine chainring was fine, that the shop was ripping me off and trying to flog me a new one, so I stayed with the MTB.
However after two hours riding my chainring went from this:

It meant I ground to a halt in shaftesbury avenue with a bus about to go up my ass.
Not a nice feeling!
My takeout is twofold, don't put mtb chainring on a fixed and consider what the pros have to sa.
