• Some might remember I posted recently that a shop had told me to change my chainring from an MTB one to proper fixed one. I asked on here if it was dangerous like the shop had told me.

There was a good amount of banter of course:

"MTB chainrings attacked my village, killed my brother and ran off with my Fiancé"
"Guys, this isn't funny, my brother was killed by a mtb chainring..."

The consensus it seemed was that mine chainring was fine, that the shop was ripping me off and trying to flog me a new one, so I stayed with the MTB.

However after two hours riding my chainring went from this:

    to

It meant I ground to a halt in shaftesbury avenue with a bus about to go up my ass.
    Not a nice feeling!

My takeout is twofold, don't put mtb chainring on a fixed and consider what the pros have to sa.
