Are you looking specifically for a waterproof soft shell, or more of a windproof, showerproof type thing, the sort that'll keep you warm but you'll still get wet if it's pissing down?
If the latter, you could do worse than look in Aldi (various different colours, £16.99), or I've got a 2007 version of the Gore Phantom (http://www.wiggle.co.uk/p/cycle/7/Gore_Phantom_Windproof_Jacket/5360030077/ is the current model). Not worn it for a year or so, size L, decent condition but obviously has ben worn, and, er, orange. Wouldn't take a huge amount to persuade me it was better in your life than mine.
