It was a blast, with some good crashes and about an inch of water on the track at the bottom of the hill. Officially, I came in third, cos they mixed up the numbers (placed much lower in reality).
I rode in that and I think came third or fourth. First guy was a pretty handy mountainbiker and the second was an ex-commonwealth rower who's getting pretty good road results this year. It was hilarious fun and pretty quick, the second and last corners being a bit of a frightener.
Last year there wasn't enough folding to make it a real folding bike contest so it was all about who could turn the biggest gear. 45kmh down the start/finish on a Brompton is a bit alarming and there were a few too many people taking it a bit seriously. Rain and chaos of people trying to get on their way were what made it fun the first year. Still think there should be a butcher's bike race in the programme.
