Pretty much any LBS will have on in I would think

What size is the headset? You can't shim that.
-
• #5
i have one.
i'll be at souths tonight if you want it. -

^^^you dont need to shim the headset. 1 inch aheadset and steerer, just put a 1 1/8 shim around the top of the steerer where the stem clamps. easy peasy, and yep, pretty much any sensible bike shop should have one.

This is a crazy idea, right?

Thanks retro_di_corsa, will PM you.
Don't think it's that crazy an idea, though haven't seen one before myself. Essentially just a shim around the steering tube above the headset. ahead stem (or whatever it's called) then clamps onto this.

The trouble is you've made it sound like you need a shim for the steerer tube. You don't, you need a shim for the stem.

no, he needs a shim for the top of the steerer tube, where the stem goes :)

No, he needs a shim for the stem that goes around the top of the steerer tube.

I use one on my bike. Common item
I have a steering tube that appears to be 1" diameter, and an ahead stem that appears to be 1 1/8" diameter.
Does anyone have a shim knocking around they'd like to sell me? Failing that, anyone know a London shop that stocks em?
Obliged, obliged.
