i never had a perfect bike but i'm working on it. screw the new one and be happy with what you got. there'll always be a better newer version.
d sounds good to me. i prefer a variety of bikes to the all in one concept.

Too late my friend, the new ones been on order for ages- and is now built.

And I suppose its time to unveil the grand plan for the new geekhouse:
So i got marty to design a bike with a -1 degree top tube, which has sliding vert dropouts (I think).
disc tabs on the front (and maybe the back- can't remember).
135mm rear spacing, for MTN hub converts/ SS/ gear + disc capability
room for FAT tyres, but still the capability of looking sleek and sexy.
In my favorite color scheme (think my BJ and Archie)- with a bit of a difference, yes even though its overdone...
A massive front rack, Rear saddle bag and on one midge bars. It'll usually be riding on 32c and can be used for Cyclocross with ease.
very basically a modern path frame.
Also as the next few years aare looking very nomadic for me, the idea of just having one/ two bike (s) makes some sense -

Personally I would go with a) despite having currently got the bike just as you love it, your new equivalent bike sounds like it has been made to be your perfect bike and will probably be a lot nicer than your current bike, but then again i'm one of these people that doesn't get owning multiple bikes that do the same things just for the sake of it. Personally if i'm gonna own more than one bike its gonna be for different purposes, like I wouldn't mind another fixed built more for speed than my current setup, and a 26 inch dirt jump/street mtb would also be cool, but I couldn't justify and don't want/need another fixed trick bike for instance, in addition to what I have now.

I think you're right james, its just the dangermouse is amazing, like perfect.
and it looks so good its unreal! -
• #10
If you don't need to sell it then D sounds like a good choice, that way you still have the bike and it's not cluttering up your house.
-
• #11
but if I leave the country, i'll never get to use it either!
so, I'm at a loss.
I think I'll wait till all my bikes are in one place and then decide. -
• #12
take apart whichever bike you use less and either keep the spares or sell all expendable parts
that way at least you wont regret it a few months down the line
-
• #13
and I suppose I should take my own advice that a bike is just a bike, eh.
ahh fuck it I'll decide at some point.
I need to get back to studying, I've been off for far too long.
-started at 4am this morning, then got bored. -

You can never have enough bikes, Henry.
Never let go of a bike that you'll miss terribly. :)

You can never have enough bikes,
Replace bikes with shoes (or handbags, or jeans or watches or jewelry or cars or....) and see how it sounds. Being the Imelda Marcos of bikes is no more admirable than being, well, Imelda Marcos.

I agree with Will.
and in general I'd like 2 bikes.
a day to day and my geared road bike.
However I now find myself with:Dangermouse.
Monocle (geared)
Rarely seen (beater extraodinaire)
Great Scot
From G to Gent
Mostly Ruinedwhich is too much.

You can never have enough cars.
You can never have enough chip pans.
You can never have enough naked sailors.
All sound all right to me. :)

From G to gent has no pics yet as its still being painted.

if you have to make room for the new one, sell the one that you have least emotional attachment to, the rarely seen?
-
• #25
Oh thats essentially gone.
and seriously who has emotional attachment to bikes?
I was fucking excited to get the Geek1 back but i wouldn't say it was an emotional attachment.
I just rode the Dangermouse with its new wheels.
My god its nice to ride!
I love regal saddles, they fit my arse so well.
You know how it is.
You've got a bike you've set up to be perfect (I'm talking about my dangermouse here).
Its got racks and saddlebags coming for it, and it rides like a dream on amazing wheels, and is super comfy.
HOWEVER, there is the distinct possibility that something very similar is coming very soon, AND you already have the most ridiculous knockabout bike that you could own.
AND of course you have to imagine being one of those people who like riding bikes, using them till they break, instead of having enough to fill a small room.
Do you:
a) get rid of the current bike when the new bike comes, despite the fact you may have only just gotten it to be as you like it, as its superfluous having two identical bikes
b) keep all the bikes even though it goes against all principles
c) sell all but the new one, and your geared bike, because they'll more than cover your needs
d) convert the current bike into what it was meant to be, a track bike and leave it at HH?
or e) [enter own response here]
