  • me too, I lived just over Battersea bridge and worked on the King's Road in the early eighties, by then Punk had faded a little, it was more proto goth like Bauhaus, Theatre of Hate and The Southern Death Cult, who were great, rockabilly and white funk.
The punks on the King's road were more of a tourist attraction than anything by then, they charged for photos.

I wore clothes out of Johnson's and American Classics, wish I still had them.

I was never really into The Pistols, they were more like a boy band, svengali manager, stylist etc. The Clash were much better.

Yeah you are right about the Clash, the Damned where shite and Malcom McClaren was/is a tit. A mate of mine used to be the bassist in Southern Death Cult and I remember them supporting Bauhaus at the Lyceum. Do you remember King Kurt and Eddie Ten Pole Tudor?
