  • Hi this is the dry build of my 1st fixed gear - 1974 Carlton (Continental i think?)

    before:/attachments/10099

    after:/attachments/10100

Soonish its going for respray - a light blue. Having trouble finding decals - going to contact Argos. Let me know if anyone has any other suggestions (NOT hlloydcycles I have looked at the list - going to contact them direct).

The clotter cranks were a bitch - as was one side of the BB - thanks to everyone who gave advice. Unfortunately I had to take it to LBS for the BB (Cyclesurgery off Pettycoat lane - really helpful).

The only prob now is that when I went to put the seatpost back it was too tight! I think the one it came with (25.4mm) was wrong. When I measured the seat tube originally I worked it out as 25.14322mm - so I just assumed I was wrong.

On SB site there are a couple of 25.0mm - is this what i should be going for?

I take it its a really bad idea to try and hammer the old post back?

Also I put a KMC chain on - it snapped (I think i f'd up the magic link). Anyway the chain line looks straight. - is this a massive school boy error? Do i need to measure it all up properly - it road ok?

    Any advice/comments/etc welcome.

Try contacting Dave Marsh at Universal Cycle Centre, he used to work for Carlton
