That'll be a nice ride man. You'll need a helmet for Spain, and a high-vis thing for France when riding in the dark - these is the rules as far as I'm aware, though I'm sure if I'm not I'll be corrected soon enough.
I reckon at that time there'll be a good chance of rain in France, so take your waterproofs.
If I was going that way again I'd be bivvying too, with the odd night in a hostel, so the best of both worlds.
Arrghhh! I'm seething with jealousy! -

I am thinking of going in September and taking 3 or 4 weeks (took 6 days driving it) if any fellow riders fancy it :)
if it's early September, I might be interested.. not sure about riding back.. which might mean me peeling off to the pyrenees, then up to Santander / Bibao and ferry back for me..
I am collecting / inheriting a titanium road bike in two weeks.. chiltern100 sportive at the end of may, then hitching a couple of days on the back of the fireflies alpine tour next month..
so a stretch to spain would be very welcome, but i will only have two weeks spare, suggest hostels and sleeping on straw at farmhouses to keep it simple..
PM me for a chat.. Darwenian

Greetings,
I am going to Cadiz from Brixton after summer is done (September).
The idea is to get there by bike* hire a windsurfer, sail like hell around Tariffa then get back some how.I have spent ages looking at blogs and threads about similar tours and, the more I chew it over, the less planning I want to do. GPSs, towing trailers, no; Just get me on my old diamond shaped steel (531? but not sure, rides like a dream) bike and goooooooooooooo.
*What a great dilema to have...to go A fixed, B flipflop or C to mount a 7 gear cassette and rear changer.
I read there is "no shame" in getting geared up for a trip this long. Hilarious!Anyway, I could do with a chinwag about these and related thoughts I am having.
Any fellow adventurers out there with any thoughts? be mighty good to have a conflab about this.
Gotta get out of London gotta get gotta get out of London out of London...before I get fucked over by Whitevanman again.
So...
I did this trip 5 years ago through France, Bordeaux, Bilbao, Vitoria, Seville, Cadiz etc, and back, but it was in a freaking Luton van!
So, I know the terrain and I know the extreme beauty but I dont really know which bike to take. I got 3 frames i can go on. But which one??
To take a tent or to use hostels etc??
This is my new vision, people of the forum, please support this old duffers odyssey!!
