It's a 'green' idea, and people love a bit of that kind of shit.
An LCD saves power only when the screen is rendered black by switching the thing off, a 'blackened' screen with the pixels held at 'black' which blocks the backlight but leaves it on full power does not save power (and as I have suggested above there are arguments to suggest it actually uses more power) . . . .
So, we need to switch the bastards off . . .
Can we agree that everyone (or the overwhelming majority) of people who use a computer do so from a chair . . .
So all we need do is fit a simple (and very very cheap) pressure switch into the seat, so that when you lift your fat arse off it the screen switches off.
