scapin. lightweight oversize steel for a stiff responsive but comfortable ride.
very nice frame. much better than heavy old-school lugged steel frames. -
• #8
@ holkin - I said I would post already, can't see any reason to object to it going to Brighton!
+£15 for box, ParcelForce 48 and PayPal. -

no! Not the colnago!
I am having day dream fantasies about F buying it for me as an anniversary present. Encourage her when you see her will you ;-)

i need to check the bank, but i think i will probably have the coppi.
i'll get back to you in a minute. -
• #11
@ kam - haha, I'll even gift wrap it for you if you like - I didn't realise it was love at first sight when you were round here ;-)
@ hoops, excellent choice sir, about time someone bought that, but you know what they say about dibs these days...! no worries, I'll wait to hear from you :)

I can't stop thinking about it...what a saddo!
-
• #13
sorry retro, bank says yes, girlfriend says a very serious no.
pitty, as that is a beautiful frame. i'm a sucker for rust! -
• #14
@ hoops, bad luck man, you'l have to temper your rust lust!
@ MrSmith, missed your earlier comment but spoken like a true connoisseur, the Scapin may be a lug free zone and the paint is a matter of taste, but it is a brilliant frame, the rear stays are a work of art in themselves, top ride quality and amazingly light.

-
• #21
thanks retro great frame ,now what colour is it going to be....decisions decisions!!!
-
• #22
that red colnago is droolicious!!
it looks like a Technos. Whoever painted over the chromed front lugs deserves a good slap.
-
• #23
This is what it might well have looked like before the re-spray. :(
Actually the lugs are different. Time to call on the Sherlock Holmes of Colnagos, AndyP

Not a technos, I think. They have different lugs at the top of the seat tube to masters etc...Bit small to see in the pic.....nice frame though!

It's a mystery to me - the tubing is 6-way crimped (Gilco is 4-way of course) so it's not a Master, not a Technos AFAIK. It is a genuine Colnago but an odd one. Also, it's the top tube and downtube that are crimped, the seat tube is plain. I've seen this kind of crimped tube on all sorts of other Italian frames, but not Colnago. The lugs are nice, but not as nice as the 3-point ones on the Master... and clues from any Colnago afficionados greatfully received.
OK, I've amassed a bunch of frames that are destined for eBay but first I thought they might be of interest to the forum, plus the day job keeps getting in the way of the listing/posting 'mare. I'm not going to do chapter and verse here, there are loads of pics and info on my website and you are welcome to come and have a look if serious. Note the prices on the web are the eBay target prices, I'm offering them to the forum at least 10% below that. All are easily 'fixable' apart from the Scapin and Coppi. All sizes centre to centre. The headlines are:
1) Cheap and cheerful Peugeot in 'tough' (i.e. not light) steel but very good condition, 55cm x 56cm, £60
2) Very nice Bromwich 531, has been on forum before but surprisingly still here, 56cm x 57.5cm, £75
3) I still have one bare metal Coppi in Genius tubing, 1.64kg only, 53cm x 54.5cm, £150
4) Very nice and rare 80's Moser 'Special' currently complete bike but selling F&F only, 53cm x 54cm, £250
5) Beautiful Eddy Merckx Corsa, Team Gan colours, Brain tubing, near mint, 53cm x 54cm, £300
6) Modern (c.2000) Scapin top-end Nemo steel race frame, very special, 2.2kg frame AND fork, 54cm x 54cm, £320
7) Unusual small Colnago (not Master), crimped tubes but not Gilco, 51cm x 53cm, £380
8) Colnago Master, paint flawed in places but chrome all good, totally sound, 55cm x 55.5cm, £420
They are all here: http://retrodicorsa.cc/Retro_di_Corsa/vendita/vendita.html
Apart from the Moser: http://retrodicorsa.cc/Retro_di_Corsa/bici/Pages/Moser_Special.html
Any questions, PM me or email thru the website, please don't leave messages here, no dibs, first with cash or PayPal secures, incurable bike habit and child support payments to feed. Will post at cost if you're not London based.
Cheers, Hutch
