It is likely to be narrower than ideal if it 9spd. It should still run, would be worse with a 1/8th chain than a 3/32nd. Otherwise metals are isotropic (equally strong in all directions) so that won't be a problem. Although they tend to buckle in compression which wouldn't be too fun. There is a lot more material in the arms than about the bolt holes, I reckon it will probably be fine.
If you could return it for a symmetrical one that might be better for peace of mind, otherwise I would just use it and if it fails then get a decent replacement
