we didn't have showers here, and some of us wanted to ride in to work (45min 12mile cycle for me), so we asked our bosses if we could have showers installed. they said yeah that's fine. 4months later on and we've now got showers at work and ride in/run/swim during lunch occasionally, shower gets used on average 3 times a week. everyone's happy - we can cycle in happily, leave our suits here overnight, leave bikes in the office, whatever. the employer is happy that we're happy. the OP's employer is frankly shit, and a bully, and i'm guessing retail.
