T boning

  • Most sets of rules that i have read state that T boning is illegal but the rule about this always seems to be written from the point of view of the person/bike making the vertical part of the T being the aggressor.

What would be the ruling if the person/bike making the top part of the T was the aggressor?

ie my opponent is traveling down the court with the ball and i either ride across the front of them or ride towards them then skid my back wheel round so my bike blocks them.

Would my opponent be responsible for avoiding coming into contact with me and be guilty of a foul if they did contact me?

My polo bike is freewheel with a rear brake so i can easily perform this move and ride out of it without foot downing and it can be quite intimidating so i can use it to make a player in possesion of the ball foot down but i want to know if it is really legal or not before i get too used to using it.

  • Reverse t-bone. Still lame. Unless your opponent isn't watching where they're going (watching the ball) and you've been sitting there for a while.

  • yeah, blame could be apportioned either way, depending on what happened.

  • I often block the path of an opponent who is in possession of the ball in a similar way as described above but I always try to do so with enough space between us to allow them to make a change to their course or speed to avoid a messy collision. I feel that this is totally fair as is it safely stops an aggressive charge toward my goal if the person in possession of the ball is not paying attention and collides with me I do not feel responsible, nor am I angry at them for crashing into me. Intentionally causing a collision by riding infront of someone or into someone is T-boning.

  • Yea, it's all about intention and awareness. I feel that coming up from behind someone with the ball in a path similiar to a V shape, overtaking and causing them to crash into you could also be considered a T-bone because the player with the ball couldn't be aware of the intent. It's kinda like being overtaken by a car that suddenly turns left on you.

Yup. This is a very scary/sketchy move sometimes.

defo although, sometimes as people shoot they lean to their opp side which has caused me to clip them and lock bikes with no intention of bike to bike on my part.
Personally you should always try to play the ball, or get into a position to play the ball, some people just ram you of your bike then get the ball, T, V, or I bone ing.

  • I thought this was a FULL contact sport :)

  • Harry, it say T- boning.....emphasis on the 'T'

    put your condoms away

  • I resent that.

I hate condoms. I prefer the lube-less tearing of flesh.

  • I never worked out who's the boner and who's the bonee in a t-bone. Perhaps this thread will help clear it up...
