Rolling to work this morning I seemed to be getting caught on every set of lights so decided it was trackstand day. Unsurprisingly I got caught on the donwhill incline to one set of lights and thought I would give it ago. Rolled up nice and slow, stood up, pushed back slightly and tweaked the handlebars. Result, I found that lovely balance point and held it for a good twenty seconds until the lights changed. Relaxed the legs, sat down and rolled away the exemplar of good grace.
I know it'll be at least another couple of months before I can repeat this performance so I'm going to bask in my own glory all morning long.
As an aside, does anyone else think that motorist don't appreciate a damn good trackstand as much as they should? Surely there should be a law requiring them to roll down the windows and commend your awesome skills or give a little applause.
Edited to add that it was hardly a steep incline, but so far the downhill stand has eluded me.
