Yeah I was looking forward to some penis talk...nevermind eh.
Back on topic, in case anyone hadn't noticed already, i'm a big shop14 fan, those guys are giving great customer service, always extremely helpful, they have lent me tools, helped me out with parts etc more times than I count in a short period of time, and I am happy to give them my repeat business and would recommend them to anyone I meet.penis talk? you big gayer...
did they help you put your pedlas on backwards? no, that was me! =D

New product, 'risky'/'exotic' product (bear in mind it is the supplier/shop's risk, NOT your own) would never see the light of day without someone investing themselves and reinvesting whatever profit they made from previous sales. It pains me to read some of the comments in the classifieds section (yes, I know £75 for a set of coloured allen keys is somewhat optimistic) but at least new, different product is being brought to the table. If you buy it, fine, if you don't, you don't. The choice to buy, or not, is yours. I'm sure if TFG/14/FGL/etc closed down everyone would be 'fuck, that place was so good whilst it lasted' but seriously, you people have the last word in whether these places continue to exist, by buying from them.
This isn't why you should support the little guy.

love the friendly vibe of the shop as well, like you can go down hang out, chat to people, and even if you're not actually there to spend any money, everyone is really cool and welcoming.
Tour De Ville is very much the same as well, really nice vibe, lots of bike porn, and a great place to hang out, plus Tour De Ville has awesome Coffee! Is why you should support the little guy.

i couldnt reccomend any of my LBS in hereford, they are incredibly unhelpful hideously over charge for maintenance (come on £10 for changing a fricking tube!) they never reccomend anything decent (e.g wrong size bikes) and if you ask to borrow a pedal wrench or shock pump they make a massive fuss about it
EDIT - also they manage to fit wrong components to the ones i specify and brake lockout levers (for forks) and refuse to claim they did. . . not impressed at all -

evans is £12.50 for a puncture repair plus 4.99 for a tube

wow thats pretty bad, but i suppose you got to post it and everything havent you!?

post it?
its just because bike shops know people are lazy and are willing to shell out on a puncture repair for purely that reason and for ignorant people who don't know how or people who haven't got time and want to drop off before and pick up after work.
its mainly for lazyness though

Cavendish are awesome. I love that bikeshop. I'm lucky enough to work around the corner from such a great shop. They were super helpful when I was working out what frame to buy — I bought my iro there and will be getting whatever comes next from there whenever I can afford it :)
The only time I don't buy from lbs is when I buy stuff for my 26" DJ bike, as london is severely lacking in shops with the parts that I want... and chainreaction are so cheap and so quick.

I'm begining to really love the way that Brixton do things. I know I work there, and as it's a workers co-op I'm kind of like a part owner and I probably shouldn't be bigging up my own shop, but oh well
We do charge a fair amount for puncture repair. £4.50 for a tube and £8 labor, but everything that needs to go into the workshop is a minimum of £8.
We also only take in any repairs (including punctures) during the first hour of business. This may sounds like we are completely screwing over people who just wander in with a puncture, but we aren't. We have a HUGE box of lending tools, and are willing to help people fix there own punctures, simply for the price of a tube. It's a good way of helping people to get to know their bikes better, IMO.
£1400 for what bike?
