Caveat with beltdrive bicycles: requires new bike or having a coupler added to your current bike
For mass production, I'd have thought an elevated chainstay design would make more sense, like a B'Twin Triban or the old Nishiki Alien. More idiot-proof than a coupler, and probably cheaper to produce.
