• Also in conversation with Curly Ollie, there seems to be a dearth of long rides in the upcoming weeks/months, lets start the ball rolling shall we. Andyp what happened to the southern discomfort route you were gonna post up?

The one you volunteered me for? ;-)

I've not had time to put a route together. I doubt I'll have time before the Bank Holiday weekend to be honest.

  • the sooner the better andy, I don't know the hills dahn souf, so I'm leaving it in your capable hands.
Whenever you can post it up would be good..

Owen was talking about an M25 ride - not on it obv, but staying as near the route as possible.

That should be long enough - 117 miles according to wiki - plus all the shagging about.

and for that reason - I'm out.

  • ... plus all the shagging about...

Those suburban girls are desperate huh ...

  • South's by the Sea!
I have visions of Quadrophenia type mayhem. I'm in!

  • Lets do south beers on the south coast....

there is a four day beer festival at this pub in august: http://www.bankesarms.com/
how about a ride down there? you can then get hammered on real ales & 13% cider and camp on the beach! it's in dorset, right in the purbecks. lovely!

  • Depends when it is, as am abroad for a lot of August, but potentially up for it, might even be able to get MOC to drive down (if there is the promise of real ale) - support vehicle style!

  • I enjoyed JimBilly's climbing story. As gripping as Joe Simpson's "Touching the Void".

  • did he show you his war wounds? heh. i'd forgotten how intimidating it can be climbing in portland. particularly when you've never even been in a harness before! a stirling effort from jimbilly, i must say!

  • yeah jim's climbing has obviously made a big impression on him, he was all fired up telling me about it. Makes doing massive skids past the pub sound easy...

  • blap.

  • first time down souths and what a splendid time!

corny - thanks for leading the way on the ride down, jeez that wind was cruel! and for general loveliness and chips xx
Markyboy, Dropout, Emile, Katt - always a pleasure to have a good old natter
Jonny, Joe, Festus, Skully - lovely to see you all again...festus - thanks for the props on the bike! it's creaky and in need of tlc but i do love it.

next time i'm ordering a burger...

Beer? Festival? Ride? Ale? Cider? Camp? Beach?

Nah, it won't take off. Not enough keywords to really trigger interest from any forum members.

  • laurent, nice to meet you and thanks for buddying up (sorry if i was a little scary and forward - it'd been a long time since my last burger.)

hoops cheers for the magazine. and teens, my director gave me his copy of footprint today. although i went to the pub so haven't read it yet...

everyone else, lovely to see you. lovely lovely.

  • Posted on SE forum about coming to drinks next week, but free on Monday not Tuesday. I am doing a student radio piece on fixed wheel in London. But the only cycling I do is round Dulwich park on a mountain bike, but I spent some time living in Bristol with some bike enthusiasts and thought it would make a good radio piece. If I turn up in Clapham bout half eight, will anyone be up for answering some very basic questions? Pretty please....

  • only if you buy us beer

  • MANY beers!!

  • more than welcome pesska,
I'm sure there will be people to answer questions.
But just come down an enjoy the atmosphere, bright times...

  • MANY beers!!

Er? Have you gone off the cider?

  • I for some reason always say beer when I of course mean cider. I think it stem's from when I started drinking, I drank beer instead of cider.

  • It's a bit like me saying 'let's go for a cup of coffee', when I actually don't drink coffee, only tea. :)

  • Or me saying "Come up and have a look at my etchings" when I only do water colors.

the evening usually ends in a punch up with a lot of screaming and shouting about 'you scratched my nag' or 'you slept with my langster'; you should stick around for that.

  • Or a bit like me saying 'how do you like my fixed bike' when I only have geared freewheel bikes.

  • Or like me saying 'come and have a look at my stamp collection', when I only have a beer mat collection.
