I've been using Hotspot Shield to watch the geo-restricted streams on the universaltv.com links from cyclingfans, but seems to be down today :(
If you don't mind being a day or so behind, someone on alt.binaries.multimedia.sports is putting up the stages from Eurosport.

a.b.m.s has been reliable for many years! a mix of english eurosport and dutch sporza.
but the best place right now seems to be via torrents
http://www.demonoid.com/files/?query=cyclingsome classic old vhs rips on there too ..

I paid up the 3.99 to Eurosport today. Well worth it, good finish to the stage.

http://www.gazzetta.it/speciali/dirette/giro/
this was on my screen in work today, no problems once the race got going.
only problem is no sound but you can get that elsewhere easy enough -

Also, torrents are appearing on demonoid a day after the stage. If you can cope with behaving like a Likely Lad for 3 weeks.

Apparently, Pedro Horrillo fell 60 metres when he crashed on the descent of the Culmine di San Pietro. :(

I loved Siutsou's solo escape. A brilliant piece of riding, and arms in the air when he got through.
The news about Horrillo isn't good. Head, torso, and leg injuries. It's absolutely horrific to even imagine falling sixty metres. At least he was conscious afterwards (although that probably made it totally horrific for him). Hope he pulls through.

Another good link to watching the Giro:
http://www.direttagiro.rai.it/
(the above link has italian commentary with the option of having no commentary and just the sound of the helicopter/motorcycle)combined with english commentary when available: http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/audioplayer.html

Just ordered Eurosport :D

I love listening to the Italian commentary and sitting there with a dictionary to hand. It's surprisingly easy to understand, as they enunciate very clearly. But when Pozzato was interviewed at the finish today, for instance, I couldn't follow it, as he spoke much less distinctly--the difference between a trained speaker and a colloquial speaker was extremely obvious.

Has there been any more news on this yet? The commentator could only say about the leg, head and torso injuries and that his condition was "critical but conscious", they didn't have any more info when I was watching. Sounds awful though.
Another rider went over the edge on the same descent, but fortunately got caught by the safety netting and managed to continue the ride. 2 in 1 descent, not good.

Horrillo falls farThe situation of Rabobank's Pedro Horrillo, who crashed out on the descent of the Culmine di San Pietro and was airlifted to hospital with reported breaks to his T12 and C3 vertebrae and punctured lungs, will continue to be unknown for another 24 hours.
Said Rabobank doctor Geert Leinders, "The situation is very serious, but for falling 60 metres, it's about as good as it gets.
"But we have to be careful not to be too optimistic; we have to wait. He was in a coma when he arrived [at hospital], then he wanted to wake up, but the doctors chose to keep him unconscious for the next 24 hours so they can treat him best.
"The good news is that scan of his brain and his head were negative. We are waiting for news on any possible complications, and possible changes to his respiratory condition," he said.

Oh shit, thats really not good. Especially the broken vertebrae, will likely end his career.

Only one way of making this stage more exiting. Drink a shot every time Sean Kelly says 'certainly'.

Just waiting for the final sprint. Not long now, hopefully it'll make this stage vaguely interesting...
-
• #44
After a 150km procession, Cavendish wins the sprint!
-
• #45
Yup, he got the perfect lead out there.
Wonder how different it would have been if they actually contested the day?
Ach well.
-
• #46
Exactly the same. Pan flat stage - zero chance of a break staying away for good.

Man, that was boring. And I only watched the last 1k.

I wandered over to the Corsa Buenos Aires earlier to watch them all "zoom" past. All a bit subdued.

I enjoyed the last 1k, great watching everyone trying to fight for Cav's wheel with some nice elbow action
