Just to cap this off and confuse future travellers even more -
I moved house recently, with my Plug, while still paying rent at my previous place (I'm living in two places these days). So for the other house I decided I needed another bike and plumped for yet another Plug (they're great!).
Being eccentric, I decided to get a Large this time, figuring I'd sell the one I found least appealing in future, whenever I moved back. So, I think I prefer the Large and am likely to keep that.
The longer top-tube makes the ride less cramped, more comfortable and there's just enough standover clearance to walk the bike around without awkwardness. There is a slight loss of nippiness, but a shorter stem might cure that? I'd hesitate to shorten the stem on the Medium, as the bars would be hitting my knees. Anyway, hope this proves useful to somebody!
