i bought it from a guy from wolverhampton who knows the guys at poyners and used to shop there., he's a collector and dealer and know his stuff.
he said that all the frames they had made were by bob jackson.
this happens alot, shops use a certain frame builder.mercian made frames for loads of people. -

hmmm. i just bought a (really nice) witcomb off scrapper but i'd be saving on a paint job and headset if i went for this instead.
is it build for 27"s or 700c?
and do you know what the rear spacing is?EDIT: y'know what i'm going to stick with the witcomb. much as i like this frame i think the blank canvas of the witcomb will suit my olde englishe style build better.
good luck with the sale. it is a lovely looking frame.

Indeed a lovely looking frame, that ticks most of my boxes.
I have the same questions as dooks, above:
is it build for 27"s or 700c?
and do you know what the rear spacing is?- but I don't have a nice Witcomb to fall back on, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the answers are the ones I'd like to hear. Also hoping pick-up in London is possible.

Good price that, Origin. Patience!

Gah, just noticed Origin is based in Sheffield, so London pick-up unlikely. But that's not a deal-breaker for me.
If you hadn't noticed already, I'm new here so can't PM for another 48 hours or so - but presumably can receive PMs from others.

Wow... looks stunning.
Still, I'm amased at how little they sell for considering that modding and refurbing my 35 year old frame cost me the best part of £200!

Thanks Hewitt! Will do.
a beautiful hand built frame built for poyners of wolverhampton by bob jackson.
the paint job is stunning, really thick and and deep red metal flake with gold lug lining.
the paint is in excellent condition just a few tiny marks, it's very clean.the poyners transfers are not under lacquer so canbe removed if you wan the frame without decals.
really nice lugs and wrap over details.
campagnolo dropouts on forks and frame.
horizontal dropouts.
no braze on on the bottom tube.nice and clean
the frame is 531 competition, which is lighter then standard 531.
the forks are 531.
57cm
english threaded
tange headset included
you could do what you wanted with this, fix it, single speed it or build it with gears.
