Hi Snufkin - sorry I can't PM you cos I'm in the nursery still!
I'm based up in Highgate but am in town most days. Got the bars with me now at work - would only ask for a tenner!

  • done deal mate

i'm a bit busy at the moment but i can meet most days central just tell me what's good for you and we can work from there

also sorry to the mods if its totally out of order to do business here

  • Ok snufkin - will be in touch. I'm around Pimlico/Sloane Square for most of next week!

PS - any other Moomins on the forum?

  • Snufkin - I'm out of the nursery and have PM'd you.

  • Edwardes in Camberwell had plug racer bars for sale last time I was in there..

  • Charge have missed a trick IMHO:

    Looks cool.

Til you come off and break all your fingers in the fall. winces

  • break? snapped off more like!

  • wiggle have got a few in stock...

  • Just to cap this off and confuse future travellers even more -

I moved house recently, with my Plug, while still paying rent at my previous place (I'm living in two places these days). So for the other house I decided I needed another bike and plumped for yet another Plug (they're great!).

Being eccentric, I decided to get a Large this time, figuring I'd sell the one I found least appealing in future, whenever I moved back. So, I think I prefer the Large and am likely to keep that.

The longer top-tube makes the ride less cramped, more comfortable and there's just enough standover clearance to walk the bike around without awkwardness. There is a slight loss of nippiness, but a shorter stem might cure that? I'd hesitate to shorten the stem on the Medium, as the bars would be hitting my knees. Anyway, hope this proves useful to somebody!

  • what bottom bracket tool do i need for a charge plug?

  • hi everyone. finally get to post a thread
    i'm a student from kingston
been following the forum for a while now and got my first fixed last week it's a charge plug. absolutely happy with it

i remember reading somewhere that the stock wheels are too wide for 23 or even 25 tyres? is that true? because a friend of mine who'd had a charge racer (and sold it subsequently) said he'd put 20 on his with no problem
and he swears the plug and the racer come with same wheels so 23 should work on mine?
i surely hope that's the case cos i'm finding 28 just a little bit too wide for my taste
    cheers

  • you should be able to put on 23 on em.

  • Got it from Kingston Evans I assumed?

23c no problem, but ride will be noticably harsher, if you don't like the idea of that, a 25c is a decent compromise.

  • thanks for the quick replies

yes from evans... was gonna get it on cyclestore.co.uk together with £50 worth of toeclips and straps but turns out they're out of small
the guy from evans was really helpful though and i bet everyone from the backstreet next to the shop will remember me from now on as 'that kid in denim jacket riding back and forth like a twat' after my test rides

in that case i might go for the 23 and see how it goes. any point changing just one tyre? like 23 front 28 rear. or 23 front 25 rear?

and when i bought the bike i was told that clips and straps are not necessary but it doesn't seem to be the case on here?

  • If you're going to ride it fixed, you'll want the clips and straps, or to get a set of clipless pedals/shoes.

There's nothing quite like the entertainment of being bounced off the pedals when you forget that you can't freewheel, and land balls-first on the crossbar with your feet all over the place.

  • Consider power-grips, I stuck em on mine - they're extremely good if you don't want the hassle of spd shoes. My (standard) Plug has 25mm tires and it's not a problem.

  • 23c work a charm on mine. Damn snug fit. Obviously tyre levers will be required. Enjoy sir!

  • reckon i could leave it, if i see a plug tt lying around i might kill for it though

  • This thread is as shit as it's title!

    :o

    (no offense)

  • miro o obviously your in the wrong thread... go back to your stunning build and old vauxhall and stay uptight or get with the program and try getting in touch with your inner estrogen... good luck.
No offense - really! I for one have a more appreciation for these lovable machines and their infatuated owners after reading the above.

  • You lost around about the vauxhall bit.
