  • in this situation its not quite as straightforward as simply having 1 location - if its sunny then platt fields (IMO the worst court of the lot - too small - but others disagree) will be full with footballers and if its raining (or been raining that day) then whitworth is too slippy and therefore unplayable.

Chorlton seems to be the Sunday default and is the best court of the lot but if its a sunny day then we will have to wait around for ages until the inevitable footie players fuck off and if whitworth is free why not play there

these seem to be the basic issues and no one is making u the baddie in this situation at all nes. as has been said plenty of times u were great with organising the tourney and everything that has gone before most of us were involved and u were the reason alot of us have got involved in polo in the first place

it does seem that the posters were done without properly thinking about details tho and maybe if others were to be done it would be andy's number on there seeing as hes there pretty much every time and the info would be :

    location:

Thursdays - Platt Fields if its been raining

                  Whitworth if sunny

    Sundays - Chorlton

Everyone seems to be really stepping things up and taking polo seriously and that can be only a good thing if we want to compete with the londoners etc. Having the choice between 2 courts about 5 mins bike ride apart surely is not gonna badly hinder accesibility and whenever there is a new person that shows everyone is always vvv welcoming from what ive seen and not at all cliquey

However ive not been a regular for a bit so these are just my thoughts on it and REALLY hope that u dont mean what u said about bein discouraged from coming at all nes cause there really are no issues with u at all and i think i speak for everyone here

people like joe who has been playing polo now for 3 and a half years can only make it some weeks due to work, he is not on this forum and comes from bolton and would just turn up on a thursday at 7, as it has been the place and time fr 3 years now.

i think it is important to keep this time and place for such people and for others that have heard of polo but not made it yet. it's great that people want to play more polo on other days but in my opinion we should keep this one day and time constant as it has been.

critical mass has inspired other rides yet remains the same day time and meeting place and now hundreds of people know when and where to go every month....

of course sometimes platt fields will be in use but it is of little difficulty or problem to make it a meeting place for polo players to gather and then move on elsewhere if necessary.

when i mentioned cliqueyness i referred to the idea that it can appear to be so. many people find it difficult to turn up to something new, not knowing anyone and learning something new that everyone else there knows already. many people have got involved with polo after simply knowing where to go to come and watch and meet some people and then have a go next time...it make it hard for such people if they don't know where people are/ have to call some random persons number.
