Seeing the Merckx inspires me to post my just about completed yellow lo-pro. The frame is panto'd Paletti but was made for a Grandis rider it seems. Not much to do except replace the bars as these are chopped ITM ergo bars and are uncomfy to ride upside down.

Here's a little project that I hope to get cracking on in a month or so, and finish during the summer:
Turn this:
into this, but with coaster hub brake only:
with the fenders, chain casing, rear (and maybe front) rack, and rear wheel housing of this:
all powdercoated in seafoam green:
So the first thing I need to do is decide on a wheelset. The rear hub will probably be a Velosteel coaster hub from Bikefix, but I don't know about the front hub or rims yet. Any suggestions? I am after an understated look, so maybe something like a Mavic Open Pro in silver? I will want to run 25 or 28 tyres.
Second question is whether I would even be able to find the full chain casing for sale. My gut feeling is that these are made for specific bikes, so I probably won't be able to find anything designed as an aftermarket add-on. It has to be able to stand up to being powdercoated. Anyone have any experience with these?
Haha! I just converted my Guv'nor. I got some of the parts to sell if anyone wants them. A set of wheels with those white tyres and those rather handsome moustache bars. Let me know if anyone wants them. Will post the pick of the conversion soon.

thats great dutch_cheese..how much did you pay?
this is mine..in it's current state..no hurry with it because it only deserves nice parts...
Check out the blog for more and coming..Djee-Djee's Flickr SetSame goes for me. Most parts I already have, but still some work to be done.
Hope to have it ready by September, when the real track seoson starts again.I've seen yours, except the new front end. NICE.
Will you ride it on the street or velodrome?Btw, it costs Euro 300.- incl. the parts mentioned (headparts, seatpost, chain).

So I've got a spare frame (531 Raleigh road, nothing special in fact pretty battered) and a spare flip flop wheel (also nothing special). The question is do I respace (cold set) the frame or respace and redish the wheel? It might be nice to have a frame on this spacing (110mm). I've also got a box of hubs in 110 so might build up some more wheels at some point and would be nice to have a bike to test them on.

Nevermind. I just cold set it. I had a frame I was throwing out (really nasty MTB frame) so I practiced on that first.

i think i'm going to build a mercian audax bike. i want it to be somewhat classic looking but using all new parts. campagnolo centaur groupset. 28mm touring tyres on mavic rims. metallic leaf green paint with white decals and lug-lining. honey brooks b17n and tape. aluminium mudguards. cinelli NOS bars and stem. red cable outers. rear rack and proper lights. clipless pedals and sidis.

That is gorgeous.
Thanks. The paint is pearl but has chipped a lot, so it's kind of 'used' looking up close. On the positive side I don't worry about scratching it.

Ok, so here's the updated Raleigh...took some snaps today...
Upgrades from last pics include...Record seatpost, Record pedals, Record pista cranks; 151 bcd...managed to find one of those beefy chainrings, with the reinforcing rings on both sides, but for way cheaper than campyoldy has them. Also got some Suntour Superbe hubs, and although they look almost identical to the campy ones, you see them less, which make me happy...plus they're 32h with NJS stamps, something a lot of people would argue don't exist. Oh, and it's now also got one of those lovely chromed Titan stems. All i really need now are some dark brown leather double straps...may have to be a custom job?! -

hot damn.

Seeing as the lo-pro projects have got a good airing over the last few pages, it's about time I got mine up here.
Needs some finishing touches, and I'm really searching hard for some cranks but I've just added the front brake and straps so I could take it for a quick run. Is great fun to ride.
