The girl on the blue bike, that's my bike that it.
I'm going to be doing the ride this year on the same bike.
Was going to offer lunch and a lawn to nap on for those prepared to roll over the Ridgeway to Swindon (via a couple of white horses) but I would appear to have been trumped by Gotti's mum. A little worried about dicki's intentions there but I think we should be able to restrain him from trying to spoon the dear lady.

Technically as we're leaving early for Bletchley there's no reason you couldn't hack the ride. Chill for a while. Train back. Get food. Relax some more. Then ride to the stones?
As I'm planning on the there and back for Bletchley I may be a little more tired for this.
Dicki, what's the pace like? Also what are we talking about distance wise?

Oliver - London, Bletchley, Amesbury, London 226 miles. Should be a doddle.

Looks like about 87 miles in about 7.5 hours with some hills chucked in for good measure. Rolling average of 11mph.

Hmmm, London to Bletchley - 60 miles.
Bletchley to London - 60 miles
London to the Stones 87 milesTotal 207 miles.
That's one way to train for the dunwich and back I suppose, it's only 41 miles short.

May as well turn from Bletchley straight for Amesbury. 80-90 miles and fairly flat until you reach the other side of the Thames basin and then its a quick haul over the Ridgeway and an easy crossing of half the Salisbury Plains.
Leaves you fresh as a daisy to roll back to London for another 85 miles.
Sweet

I'd love to do this as I've never done the stones solstice thing, but will need to start training up as I've never ridden anywhere near that far before. Spent last solstice in a squat-commune style village near Amsterdam and partied hard from sunrise onward. Totally Mint way to spend a morning. Riding down there would just be so nice.

Hm, I'd quite fancy sticking around Bletchley and go to Stonehenge direct from there--but what to do in Bletchley in the intervening hours, and would anyone else be up for this route?
Well as we are fast approaching the longest day of the year and soon the nights will start drawing in. I think it is time to raise the issue of the Ride to Stonehenge to celebrate the Summer Soltice.
Dazzer usually organsises the ride and in the past there have been only a few riders. As this year 21st June is a Sunday and the ride can leave London on the Saturday night I was hoping it might be a good chance to get a few people out on a longer ride.
I won't preempt Dazzers ( presuming he does it this year ) but will give a few details of what is a really stunning ride with a huge party to finish it all off.
Leaving HydePark corner / Speakers Corner Saturday evening cycle through the night down to Salisbury.
Arrive at Stonehenge 3am / 4am watch sun rise drink beer party with the druids hippy's clubbers.
Fall asleep for a few hours and then ride the return journey ( obviously trains from Salisbury are available for the return leg ) for those who aren't up for the ride home.
Anyone ? Check for piccies of previous years on FLICKR or here on our very own forum uner Rolling to the Stones titles.
We should maybe have a group leaving earlier for those who want to ride fixed ??
