  • If you're a paid professional photographer this probably makes sense. The rest of us would like to have IS built-in (Sony, Olympus, Pentax) thanks very much. OP see if you can find an old Pentax K100D.

    I think IS is over rated personally, and it saps battery life something rotten, i've tried it out to see if it works, but never bothered to use it regularly, if your camera has a decent enough sensor you can usually just up the ISO with very little percievable loss in image quality to get the shutter speed you need, or use a tripod. Most of my work is done on a tripod though to be fair, but for anything that isn't I am normally using enough lighting to get a high shutter speed (1/250 of a second) which negates the need for any kind of IS.
