Actually this has set me thinking. I'm planning on going to China in a couple of months. Would there be any demand for me taking the Lauterwassers and getting some modern copies made? Or any other vintage parts someone may have....

Bicycle manufacturing for export isnt very big in china anyway, you were probably thinking of taiwan. China makes, electric bikes, kids/toy bikes and traditional bikes for home. But all of these would be in millions of units.
If you want a few handlbars made you are better of looking at a small fabricators in the UK.
For example, archie wilkinson (just outside brum) makes these very small run and sells em £18 each, anodised in nice colours.
