    Excellent shop/service review Furtwangler.

I've added it as the first review of its type in the Cycle Shops thread. I've also linked your Seatpost Security thread into the Locks That Work thread.

    Helpful and useful. Cheers.

  • Actually... Im doing this tonight.

  • Wow - as a result of my recommendation?

Let us know how you get on.

  • I too had a fitting session with the Whisperer from recomendations on this site , learnt a lot and keen to see how it works out on the bike ... thanks for the tip

  • I found out from this thread:

I too had a fitting session with the Whisperer from recomendations on this site

    [ Warm glow :-) ]

  • Has anyone done this *and *a Cyclefit who could give a proper comparison?

I'm starting to do longer rides in preparation for Dunwich. Rode to Southend yesterday (55 miles). 30 miles in my lower back was giving me grief and I couldn't sit still on my saddle. Today my left leg and left groin hurt but my right side is fine. Time to book something in methinks...

  • I've had a cyclefit and will be getting a TT setup from Scherrit when I get my shit together and ask about it.

  • I did this the other day. Found it very beneficial and learnt a lot. Having said that, I was expecting my own dimensions to be taken to be considered when looking at future frame sizing...

My saddle ended up an inch too high, and almost an inch too far back. Cleats were miles forward too. I feel much more compact and comfortable now, and theres a noticeable difference in my wrists, gooch, neck/back. Im feeling less fatigue too so I guess Im in a more efficient position.

Conversation turned to this forum and your name Hippy and the Ribble came up. Scherrit told me about a conversation he had with you...

S: "do you ever replace any parts on this thing?"
H: "Yep... when something falls off"

    Nice.

  • Hahaha that's so true! :)

It's not nicknamed "The Rubble" for nothing.

Where do you live Balki? Are you a westie?

  • Nup... I live in Dalston. East side is da best!

Jeez the roads are smooth out West! Didnt have to dodge asteroid craters like I do out my way.

  • For some reason I always thought you were actually posting from Melbourne.

You didn't go far enough west.

ie. in contrast, the roads on Dunwich Dynamo (NE) are glorious and the roads around the Chilterns (W, NW) are shit.

Having said that, I used to complain about Melbourne roads, then got to London, then complained about London's roads.. and then I cycled in Ireland.. fuckin' hell.. London roads are like fresh McDonalds drive-through tarmac compared to Ireland's gravel pits :)

  • Usually posting from L-town but I've actually spent quite a lot of time on the mothership in the last 6 months for various reasons.

  • I just spoke to Corinne and I'm going to see them on 5 June.

The roads in South London are quite nice too and if they're not I contact TfL and they bring the van in the evening so it's all smooth by morning :)

  • Oi.. don't you lot get too friendly.. I've got a TT machine that needs building/fitting. :P

  • Just got back from my bike fitting at the Bike Whisperer. It was a fun experience and Jaygee and I have learnt lots. The ride back home was much comfier than this morning. Small adjustments were made to the cleats, saddle height, drops and I need to get a slightly smaller stem then the Gios will be perfect.

I also feel more confident riding my road bike knowing that the technical details have been fine tuned.

Scheritt and Corinne are indeed lovely people.

  • i want to go when i have more dosh
nice to hear that your bike is fitting greatly

Hey, Vee, how long is your stem? I was told to get a 90 and I have an 80 installed. Might we have a straight trade? Mine's a cinelli with scratching on top (like from being turned upside down on concrete).

  • How did I miss that? I should go and get fitted properly as soon as possible for the Pyrenees ride!

  • Just got back from the depth of Ealing visiting the Bike Whisperer, Scherrit was fantastic in talking me through about the fitting, they were a lovely couple and are really helpful (fantastic dog! same breed as Gabe's), he seemed to have a habit of saying "Exactly!" a lots!

It turn out I didn't need that much adjusting, just increase the saddle height by a couple mm and push saddle a bit further back which help noticably in keeping a constant speed, althought the slight pain on my hand baffle Scherrit a bit, netherless I'm going to try and get a shorter stem and see what happen as the stem was a little too long at 100mm for me.

The bonus thing is that he only charge me £50 because it only took an hour and doesn't really need to do much adjusting, I learn quite a bit from him and probably may come back again to see if it sorted or another check if my hand still a litle sore.

fantastic bloke, fantastic service, and fantastic result.

Oh yes, the Rubble were mentioned.

  • Good stuff.

I need to give him a call. I've got two broken bikes I need bits for now.. and that bloody TT machine.. damn and blast.

  • Scherrit rushes outside, pulls down the shutters, dodges inside, and hides away shivering while hippy rings the bell for days.

  • Close. I called him after posting this and he's actually going on holiday..

I bet if I ride past now, there's a For Sale sign out the front of their place.

  • there are people offering similar services in other parts of London, hippy if you can't wait for him to get back

    he's back. call again :-)

  • I know, but I don't have time. Away this weekend and in France the week after.
Buy TT frame, never ride another TT..
