- Do you miss Brixton's old squatting scene?
- Do you still drink in the Albert?
- Did you do some coke with the Alabamas once?
- Are you almost 50?
- Do you reek of patchoulli oil?
If you've answered yes to most of these questions, please fuck off...
wtf? i seem to have hit a nerve. trying to get my point across that i live there and am buying the tee cos i feel i have a direct connection to it.
for my own info, who were the alabamas and what is patchoulli oil? maybe i can feel as old as you then.

Oh yes. I hadn't thought of that. Note to self: when wearing a garment that other people also may own a version thereof, stay at home and do not socialise.

Cooltan... shudders
That really takes me back to somewhere I really don't wanna be, so many rich boys/girls slummin' it in Brixton back then... Er, has anything changed? They just have jobs in the media now...
Quiet nights in the Two Woodcocks and lairy nights in the Canning/Canterbury/121 Club for me... 121 Club was fucking awesome! -

I'm just amazed Rik managed to drag himself away from the "glossy photos" thread for long enough to put himself on the list.
do any of the people on the list actually live in Brixton?
i can only atest to me, marky & Joe.
the rest of you lot are east end imposters!.you two are looking for something and I think you have found it.....
-
• #95
wow... Rik found a photo on the tinternet that didn't have naked ladies in it!!!

I'm not against socialising, I'm not sure how you got that from my post.
All looking the same may be the desired effect, in the same way as club kits, in which case I'm happy for you. If the point of the shirt is to showcase your individuality then I would have to say that it would be embarrassing if I met someone else with one on.
I've noticed that this forum has a bit of an obsession with memorabilia (T-shirts/key rings and the like) I guess people just like to buy in to the scence.
I'm thinking of making a run of pista sheep tails, pm me if your interested.
Ps. I am not having a go, please take my comments as tongue in cheek, there is a semi-serious point behind them though.

Fair point CV, I s'pose folks could have worried about that with the Forum shirts (airfix etc.) a while back - in reality there's the odd night when you're at a drinks and maybe one or two others have the shirt on, but in a large group it's not that awful. TBH personally I just love well designed t-shirts, especially ones that pay homage to/send up other design classics in a clever and low-key way. I'd want this t-shirt even if they were selling them in urban outfitters. The charge could be brought that we are all buying into a scene, but if we're all actually riding our bikes then it's not just fashion. A bit like when skate shoes got fashionable in the late 90s - all the skaters kept wearing them anyway - surely it would have been sadder for them to stop just to be contrary?
