Sorry to hear about this lady's death. I am new to the forum, so I didn't ever meet her.
That tweet is way too long - it needs to be 140 characters, I believe. I twittered it in two parts instead. I broke it at "Can you help us?"
Good luck.

on both, but i still do not believe there were no witnesses or CCTV.......

You need to go on the hunt for CCTV yourself before its too late, London surely has extensive coverage, they manage to follow terrorists etc street to street. Police are well lazy/busy with other things to chase these things up properly. Make sure you get down to the site and check everywhere for CCTV even in shops/private buildings/carparks, if there is any recording it probably wont be kept for much longer.
Sorry if this was patronising, Good luck.

• #18
heard the appeal by Kate on London Radio this morning

Thanks to coppiThat for coming down, we actually got some good things to chase up on and a few twitter/Facebook bits too. Thanks people.
DFP - done already, still no good, all the cameras are capturing the pavements and not the roads, the traffic cameras still aren't working there.

thanks for letting me help. its sad that a few nottinghillengers immediately think you are selling a language course or want to convert them to fixiedom and turn their noses up and look ahead as though you dont exist. cycling back through hyde park i saw these lovely horses and carriages.

Every street within the circle line in London is covered by the Congestion Charge Cameras; that means EVERY street. You can see them everywhere; they're usually placed quite high up on the top of lamposts and they point 4 ways and have black spheres over the top of them, for protection presumably.
I can't believe that there wasn't one near the scene of the incident. Without knowing the exact location of the incident, it's hard to say.
This is just speculation but maybe some part of the girl's bike or bag got tangled up with the lorry and then she was dragged under the wheel. Cycling in London, I know how close one ends up getting next to vehicles and how easily this could happen.
All very sad, nonetheless.

coppiThat - Were you the chap that had someone scream 'you're horrible people' at you? Honestly, made me feel ashamed to be a londoner this morning
The area is outside the CC zone, so no cameras, the whole street seems to be totally devoid of them actually

Facebooked it. Loads of my friends live out that way.

Velcro, i remember going there and putting flowers down that day of the remembrance ride.
I also remember speaking to the lady in a shop that day who remember the incident. People like that may know someone who saw the whole thing.
May be worth having a talk to people around the area to see, raise awareness and such.

no it wasnt me, i was only snubbed a few times. once a youngish girl without even listening to what i said looked straight ahead and said to me no thanks and as she waked off i said "i'm not selling anything, a girl died in a traffic acident, about your age,,,,, it could have been you." her pattern of walking changed in an uncomfortable way as what i said resonated in her head and she half looked back at me.
on a whole i was deeply humbled by it all.
Hope you don't mind me posting this but this Thursday 7th May will be 3 months since Eilidh's fatal crash.
It's incredibly frustrating that the police have no witnesses, no CCTV, and no idea what happened.
So we're trying to find out what happened.
Help us spread the appeal for witnesses:
If you fancy changing your Facebook status to:
''is appealing for witnesses to the crash that killed Eilidh Cairns in Notting Hill Gate as she cycled to work, Thurs 5 Feb 2009. Can you help us?''
with link: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=83011272326
And Twitter:
... is appealing for witnesses to the crash that killed Eilidh Cairns in Notting Hill Gate on 5 Feb.
Can you help us? http://www.facebook.com/l/;http://tiny.cc/1h6xU
(ask your friends to do the same, hopefully it'll put the word about)
ALSO -- We're doing a roadside appeal at Notting Hill Gate (opp the Tesco's) Thursday morning (7th May) at 8.30-9.30
Handing out leaflets and jogging people’s memory. We still don’t know what happened.
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?sid=a2ae5f02d64d7652062a4f6079804a03&eid=81697435772&ref=search
Anyone who wants to get involved can or if you're just cycling past come and say hi!
Along with this roadside appeal we are producing a video to appeal for witnesses, and to tell Eilidh’s story.
The piece features a mix of high profile political figures. It will be cut to send to TV broadcasters and local cinemas in the hope that it will encourage eye witnesses to come forward with vital information. The real aim for us is to reach those who may have witnessed the accident but have decided not to come forward.
So far these people have spoken out on behalf on Eilidh and feature in the footage:
• Kulveer Ranger –Boris’ Johnson’s Director of Transport Policy - GLA
• Nick Ross – Former Crime Watch presenter and Chair of London Accident Prevention Council
• Miss Dynamite – Singer Songwriter.
• Jo Oakley – Head of Collision Investigation Metropolitan Police Service
• Jenny Jones – London Assembly Member Green Group
• Alan Beith – MP
• Cynthia Barlow – Chair of Roadpeace
• Avi Silverman – FIA Foundation
• Buffalo Bill – Editor of Moving Target
• Professor Karim Brohi – (TIGER) Chair of Trauma Sciences at Barts and the London Medical School and the Royal London Trauma Clinical Academic Unit.
• Ross Davenport – (TIGER) Senior Researcher at Barts
• John Smithson - Chairman and Cheif Creative Director, Darlow Smithson
Thank you
Giles & Kate xxx
