You know what they say: if you're bored with London, you're definitely fucking bored with Oxford.
When I was studying in Farnham, there was a graffiti (probably still there) near the university campus that said;
"if you're bored of London, you're bored of life"
perfectly normal quote, but below that, it said;
"if you're bored of Farnham, so you should be!"
genius.

I hear ya.
Was back last weekend for the first time since March.
Amsterdam is great, but London's always going to be home for me.
sigh -

I reckon London misses you too. Looking forward to seeing the tartan machine.

London today was ridiculous!
an amazing day.
Started well, though sad as my gf went back to work in Ukraine for an unknown amount of time, I may get t osee her in 2 months but it could easily be 6, but we had an amzing breakfast at Carluccio's (fancy eh?) at St. Pancras on that awesome concourse.
Then I went on the tube, which was less fun, got to Barbican and thought fuck this, got out, wandered around there for a while.
then purposefully strode out to a job interview, which went terribly, as a) I was clearly underdressed, and b) i'm an idiot.
then walked to 14 and co, and bought a wheelset, which is shiny.
then walked from there back to Sloane Square, at which point tired and a bit sweaty in my jeans, t shirt, shirt, woolly jumper combo I hopped on the 22 and went home.but it made me realise how much of London you never see if you don't allow yourself to get lost.
Like the Bathhouse thats now a cafe near the gerkin, or the random alleyway by the National Portrait Gallery, or the myriad of greenspace that is usually encapsulated by busy office buildings and people don't take the time to notice.
and no city is as perfect as the City of London- that square mile of amazing architecture and infrastructure, when absolutely no one is around.I miss London. Today was a good fucking day

Mal and I cycled to Little Venice today, along the canal path. Turns out they had a big canal boat festival on there.. just for us! That was nice of them.

Did I spot you walking on the north side of Spitalfields market? I was on my bike (heading to the Barb) and there was a brief moment of "do I recognize you?"
-
• #18
Nope. Well, not today. We only made it as far east as Maida Vale.

yup, that was me, floppy haired and clueless.
I was midway through wondering how quickly the claud butler fix outside spitalfield market was going to be stolen.
seeing as how it was attached to a very short pole, which i could have lifted it off of.nice to put a name to face.

Oxford is pretty mediocre.
and windy.
and i've been up since 4am. and I'm a bit grumpy.
at least they've redone a road surface outside my department. there are a couple of skids pefectly in line with each other. I was happy.
then i submitted my presentation and decided that I've probably failed.
oh well. -

He doesn't need help!
Sweet dude, let me know, will keep an eye out for some wheels, worse comes to worse, got the road bike.
[utterly pointless thread alert]Today, I had the best day of my term so far at Oxford.
Said goodbye to my gf who's going to work in Russia for 6 months- not exactly a happy moment, but it was a perfect goodbye, despite being in Gatwick.
I then got on the train to Victoria, and got there and the sun was shining and everything seemed right with the world (except no bike- walkengering)
some cunty "I am become Death"er nearly ran me over whilst crossing the road on green man, which made me smile.
I walked from Victoria to Hackney, via loads of places I'd been to, cycled past and taken for granted whilst living in london.
Did the full tour of the Barbican, saw areas of shoreditch, dalston, london fields, etc that i'd never seen.
Went into St. Pauls on the way back to paddington (it wasn't a very ordered wander)
Saw the changing of the guards (horse and palace)- my first time.
Popped into BLB, picked up some essentials- they were extremely nice.
Anyway time came that I had to be heading back to Oxford, and I got on the train as sunset, and so had an amazing exiting london view.
Oxford is dull and a backwater, and so this long rant is all to say don't take our city for granted- it just might be the nicest place on the planet.
I didn't see anyone from the forum that I recognised, but did see a severe lo pro outside the old shoreditch station, silver and with the aero additions at headtube and BB.
Thanks for listening.
Henry
