• a beautiful set of wheels.

this is a new build, the hubs have been regreased and serviced, polished them rebuilt

the hubs are 1950's airlite track hubs, very stylish and very light.
    double fixed with lock ring.

    both hubs stamped airlite

rims are mavic's dark grey anodized. 2 cm aero profile.
    no braking marks.

  • gorgeous. totally want them! totally can't afford them. you get into leeds much? flexibility on price if we meet in leeds/harrogate area?

  • don't really get that way much.they are stunning.i love em, but have got the pay for a wheel build.
i'm building up a pair of campag track hubs but i think these are much nicer and more original.

if there's no takers i'll pm you

  • Hi, am interested but can you tell me if the rims have a braking surface ?

    Aidy

  • no probs, let us know, these could be the first part towards my l'eroica build, am even considering flogging my goldtecs in favour of these

  • there really nice, check out these red ones

    http://www.classiclightweights.co.uk/airlites.html

  • aidy, not that you can see,i ran them with a front brake for the one week i rode them, with no problem.
their like the campag ones, the rim is smooth but you could run a brake or brakeless.
they don't have a flat braking surface like a velocity or mavic cxp 33.the rims are lovely. i'd take the mavic sticker off though

  • They are a great set of wheels!

I love airlite hubs and would love to have them, but I just don't have a use for another track wheel set :-(

  • yeah, but it's sacrilage to ride them with a brake, these puppies should be on a proper track only or very sunny day vintage ride

    (or a l'eroica ride)

i used to have some 36/40 ones but sold them not that long ago.. seeing these has made me regret it

  • i know the brake is bad but you can't ride fixed safely with a decent gear inch in sheffield unless you have a brake, too many hills.you just trash your knees going down hill.

they came off a 1957 carlton flyer track

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/36890951@N07/sets/72157617352444931/

that was built but never ridden as the guy died from ill health.
    great wheels great bike.

i ride a 1974 mercian super vigorelli that has campag dropouts, the 70's brochure say that mercian used the dropouts to be used with campag track hubs so thats what i've got but i would have loved to have kept these.

  • tilover, the wheels have gone but i do have another double fixed airlite hub, it's on a 27 inch rim but may be of interest to you.
