I believe that God is truth and truth is, by definition, reasonable. Science cannot disprove true faith; because true faith rests on the truth; and science cannot be in ultimate conflict with the truth. So I am perfectly happy to believe in evolution, for example, as the most powerful theory yet devised explaining human history and pre-history. I have no fear of what science will tell us about the universe - since God is definitionally the Creator of such a universe; and the meaning of the universe cannot be in conflict with its Creator. I do not, in other words, see reason as somehow in conflict with faith - since both are reconciled by a Truth that may yet be beyond our understanding.
Andrew Sullivan.
I am going across the road to St Eustache
And I am going to ask God to give me and my (ex)girlfriend the guidance to get through the pain we are feeling right now. Typically, for me a least, guidance comes from a heightened awareness to coincidence. My spirituality doesn't make me particularly pro religious but I do feel a certain empathy with religious people because we both share a connection with God.

do not believe + God exist = worms eating me while on fire
believe + no exist = meh
believe + God exist =
If I die before I wake
at least in heaven I can skate
'cause right now on earth I can't do jack
without the man up on my backnow heaven would be a DJ
spinning dub all night long
and heaven would just kicking back
with Jesus packing my bong
and if you don't believe in Jesus and Muhammad or Buddha too
and while the world is warring
just sit back and laugh at you singing..If I die before I wake
at least in heaven I can skate
'cause right now on earth I can't do jack
without the man up on my backnow most people think of heaven
they see those pearly gates
but I looked a little closer
and there's a sign says "do not skate"
so if you wanna come to my heaven
well we're all gonna have a ball
and everyone u know is welcome
'cause we got no gates or walls singing. If I die before I wake
at least in heaven I can skate
'cause right now on earth I can't do shit
without the man fucking with itand then I got to the gate
pulled a list that I'd been calling fate(lines censored as they are irrelevant to my arguement)
we'll be busting Christ air's until we get to heaven
think I really care that I miss my biology
got my education in stale fishology
with all your rules you got to chill
I'm gonna twist out Mike McGill
I'm gonna twist out 'cause I got the skills
I'm gonna twist out 'cause I got the skills... got the skills got the skillsheaven is a halfpipe..
heaven is a halfpipe..If I die before I wake
at least in heaven I can skate
'cause right now on earth I can't do jack
without the man up on my backIf I die before I wake
at least in heaven I can skate
'cause right now on earth I can't do shit
without the man fucking with it

It's a form of Pascal's Wager:
If you do not believe in god and on death god *does not *exist - then nothing happens.
If you do not believe in god and on death god does exist - then you are punished.
If you do believe in god and on death god *does not *exist - then nothing happens.
If you do believe in god and on death god does exist - then you are rewarded.
The conclusion that is meant to be drawn from this is that it is always better to believe in god as your outcome will always be either nothing (you are simply dead) or reward - whereas non-belief will offer only the options of nothing (you are simply dead) or punishment.
Of course, as an argument for belief it is laughably flawed and can be picked apart fairly quickly by child, it's a kind of fallacy of exhaustive hypotheses or a false dilemma, it's baffling to see it still used these days, but it is surprisingly common.

the only way i can be 'sincere' is by stealing from others and not giving them the credit ;)

You do all realise that I only started this thread because it was one that Tynan couldn't win? I saw success going to his head and had to step in; call it an intervention. Those of you who recall the bloody aftermath of his victory in last year's LFGSS pole dancing marathon contest will know what I mean.

That victory was deserved, if only for the 10 month hormone course I completed in the run up to the finals.
