  • Anyone been to Zapatha or Yaam? Two of my favourite places in the world!

hm, i'm actually from berlin.. and you'r right!!!!! My fav. bars here

  • Go to the Titus Zoopreme store, 2 Meinekestrasse, 10719 Berlin, it's a huge skate/street wear shop. (if you're into that kinda thing!)
    :)

  • this is reason no. 34356 why i love berlin: it's a city that was built for three times the number of occupants that it currently has. the ride from berghain to my flat takes about 25 minutes, if i'm taking my time. when i'm coming back from the club in the morning (pissed/off my head, usually) i can do the entire ride without seeing a single car. it's amazing. racing down the middle of the street, hands in pockets, music on ipod, big smile on my face. one of the best feelings in the world...

  • Oh Teddy, how I envy you...

  • that triple triangle cinelli is still there at cicli berlinetta, by the way. i've been trying to convince dustin to sell it to me but he has a really unbusiness-like attachments to all the really nice bikes in the store and doesn't want to part with it...

  • How much is he asking for it? I was doing my child looking in toyshop window impression when I saw it, you can probably still see my dribble stains on the plate glass... Bet it ain't cheap, going by the prices I saw up at Keirin Cafe...

  • i'm going to berlin next weekend, with my girl, to see my best friend. happy days.

this thread is really useful, thanks. I love this forum.

  • for you Zuperprecise, ze war is over.

  • i think i'm gonna move to berlin in june. i've just decided the past couple days, but i really can't see any reason why not.. i can write my dissertation on german art and be an english bike tour guide. fuck yeah, that's a good way to spend a summer.

  • kattt, I'm German and my sister lives in Berlin. If you need help finding a flatshare give us a shout. I can help you reading German property websites.

  • cheers ehren, i was wondering about their equivalent to moveflat.com or something..

Click on "Mieten", means renting. Flat is "Wohnung" and flatshare is "WG" or "Wohngemeinschaft".

  • use craigslist, it's english and it's easier. you can sublet rather than have to do this crazy through-an-agent bullshit. so that you know, in germany there are two prices... "cold" (no utilities) and "warm" (with utilities, usually heating, electricity and gas but ask what's included). if you get a flat through an agent, you normally have to pay the equivalent of one or two month's rent to the agent as a finder's fee. that sucks.

  • You can also go through a "Studentische Zimmervermittlung" web-site. Well, technically, you're a student, so they'd probably not bat an eyelid if you said that you wanted to stay there for the purpose of studying, even if you're not immatriculated at a particular university there ... then again, I haven't tested out that theory.

  • well i actually will sort of be studying there, i am going to write my dissertation on the german and eastern european art market.. hmm.

  • That's what I mean--in theory, people shouldn't really object, but you never know ...

  • aaahhhhh im in berlin great city it is but i left my bike at home an am regreting it so much im riding a ladies bike with 45c tyres which is a size to small for me does any one know where i can get a cheap second hand bike for under 100€?

  • are you living here? there's a good sunday fleamarket in freidrichshain that usually has a lot of bike sellers. not sure about this sunday (it's easter), but try your luck. you'll have to search to find a decent bike, but there are some dusty gems to be found.

  • First confiscated track bike in Berlin?!

  • Does any body have any advice on cycling in berlin, and getting there e.g Flights with bikes, hostels/hotels, transport from the airport etc
    Any advice appreciated

  • oh my god. do a fucking search, there are about twenty threads on berlin and flying with bikes already.

    =========== thread ends here =============

  • Plus be aware that the cops over there are going mental at the moment - my friend got fined for riding on the pavement only a few days ago and they are stopping and fining people without both brakes, it's hardly fixie heaven at the mo.

  • I flew to *Schöneberg Airport when I went (with the girlfriend so didn't take a bike) but it'd be no problem on the U-Bahn, 15mins you're in the centre of Berlin. Plenty of cycle specific routes too!

  • Schönefeld. Don't want to seem the uber-pedant but you do hear about people being flown to the wrong country because of a misunderstanding at the travel agents!

Schöneberg is a slightly dull wessie area. The East is much more exciting :)

OOps, Sorry Yeah it was Schönefeld, Not Schöneberg... I'll be more careful next time!
