good info.
out of interest what are people's opinions onstuff like this, there is an abandoned bike near me which has no wheels left and obviously noone is coming back for it, i might strip it, but i'd feel terrible if someone thought i was stealing it, well i would be i suppose but i wouldn't be taking the parts to sell.
i'm in two minds.
i'm interested in this. my grilfriend is looking over my shoulder and says she likes your user name.

update: i've emailed someone at the Uni on the Uni bike user group (UMBUG)
quote:
*Hi MichaelI'm emailing you after discovering that assumed abandoned bikes are to be removed from the UNI grounds, i'm interested to know what the intention for these is? as i would hate the idea of these being scrapped when they could be renovated where feasible and put to good use. I have lots of contact with local Bike shops particularly one who already renovate old bikes, plus know a large amount of people with sufficient practical & mechanical knowledge to undertake these renovations...
Please let me know if there is anything i can do to help with this
:endquote
i'll keep you updated...

oh i had a meeting with them partly about these bikes a few weeks ago...
basically they are gonna start a project up with bike boutique whereby they do them up and then sell them at a discount price to students...they are up for throwing a couple to i bike mcr first though so i can do em up and give them away as i have been doing for a while now with other donated bikes/ frames etc. -

relieved to hear all this.there's a road bike missing it's wheels and saddle that's been abandoned locked up for 2 years. now has a uni tag on it. if i heard they were being scrapped, was gonna take that myself, but happy to hear they're all being resurrected
Last night someone (Simon or James i think) was telling me that the Uni have been putting notice on bikes that look like they have been abandoned (missing wheels etc) to say that they will be remove from what they are locked to...
How do we find out what is happening to (and possibly get our hands on) these bikes?
Nes do you have any inside info about this?
I'm not sure if it's the Met UNI or The UNI, but either way i hate to think of a whole load of bikes just being scrapped, they should be put to use as polo steeds or just repaired and sold for minimal cost to cover repair.....
We need to try and get to the bottom of this....... can someone on the Uni bike commitee ask about this.....
