I live near Padstow, and cycle to work, couple of days on my singlespeed, the rest on road and cyclocross (compact) 10 miles each way. There are lots of short steep hills but plenty of rolling gentle "slopes". The wind is the killer, lots of s'west and cold n'west. (Pain is just weakness leaving the body)
The beer is great "Tinners and Proper Job", great food, try the Cornish Arms, St Merryn, just taken over by Rick Stein, not poncey, just a proper pub
