I've just had my saddle stolen, and am now going to go for Zep's method. I've been thinking about all the sorts of prevention methods, and this seems the most inexpensive one, that protects the seatpost and the saddle (providing the length of chain is right). Yes it may look crap, but riding saddle-less isn't good, and bikes are to be ridden.
If i have my doubts about it, i'll go quick-release and take it with me everywhere.
