[Replace all reference to threading with lacing . . . It was a long day dont flame me] So I decided, with nothing but Sheldon's cryptic advice, to build myself a couple of wheels. Now after deciding on doing them two cross I started and the wheel was trued, tensioned and dished all nicely nicely with no majour problems.
Apart from one. Instead of doing them two cross I had done them single cross. On the other hand the wheels ran fine and they're actualy threaded correctly for my strange single cross method. I've done about 40-50 miles on them so far and they've started to come out of true (as they would on any new wheel) and I decided to take them to my local bike shop for a little MOT. The guy seemed suprised I'd ended up doing them single cross (I'd spoken to him about the wheels before) but had no real problem with me lacing them single cross apart from some shocked responses along the lines of 'Single Cross ... weird' and then said it was fine and he'd true them for me.
Now what I want to know is am I secretly signing my own death certificate by riding around on these things with spokes (that are actually supposed to be double cross but) that seem to be stable enough and fit well if not abit goofy. Ive decided to stay off the bike until ive sorted this which is just as well seeing as the weather is shit.
