to be fair, i am about twice your size too! after years in boys jeans, i finally found girls jeans that fit me, and now i've been riding too much & my legs don't fit in them anymore! :( quite upsetting. luckily the shrunken swerves came to the rescue!

Do YOU have a problem with Jean..

To be honest I've had no problems with American Apparel on the bike at all and I do most of my cycling in them... Cheap enough, comfy and skinny, they were fine in the thigh even at my biggest though many pints of the black stuff means the waist is a little less accomodating than it previously may have been, need some bigger ones now :(
Going to have to argue the point on this one. I've owned a few pairs of American Apparel jeans, and all of them have been awful. The first pair were bought in New York a few years back, and were just awful. The quality was low, the cut was bizarre (they almost flared at the bottom!) and the colours bled for their entire life.
The second pair were bought in England (although I'm presuming they were made in the same place, LA), but were even worse. Because they only went by waist size, the legs were ridiculously too long. Now I've got a 32" inside leg which isn't massive, but I shouldn't be buying 26" waist jeans and having 2 or 3 turn ups at the bottom! Also, all the originally bad features remained. Don't know why I bothered buying them now.And thats another thing, the fucking price! I accept paying over the odds for nice stuff, I tend to spend lots of money on nice clothes, but £60ish quid for poor quality jeans in a store that is supposed to be ethical staples for everyone (which is, frankly, at odds with their marketing) doesn't make much sense to me. The came in for some flak in LA after a price hike which effectively prevented their workers buying the in store.
As a proviso, thats all just my opinion and obviously the problems that I've had with my body type ect. They could fit others fine for all I know, but for me and my friends, they're ill-fitting expensive jeans for people buying into the marketing hype.
You want some bad ass denim? Acne Jeans. Worth every fucking penny, they're comfortable, a really good quality, keep their colour and fit after loads of washes, and cope admirably with the perils of a clumsy person (falling off stuff, falling down stuff, falling over stuff).

Just wrote out a whole post and lost it in a browser error. Poop.
I have always had this problem - even as a child, thighs were always out of proportion to my skinny waist. Recently, got a pair of Petroleum jeans. They don't have the straight side seam stitching - there's a whole series of seams around the knees, so they mould better as your leg bends. They fit my arse well and have the girlfriend's gold-star seal of approval, but they have room around the thigh. Rolled up, they are ideal for cycling in.
Admittedly, the ones I have are boot-cut an the bottom. But I am sure you could get a straighter cut in the calf and still retain the thigh-room.

Yeah fair enough, they aren't ideal but I've always found them to be comfy enough on me, they're not too expensive compared to the likes of Diesel at €200-300, same with Acne, great jeans but pricy!! Anyways, I'm an All Saints man now through and through ;) (Wouldn't say no to some Acne's or nice Diesel's either though)

I fucking hate those things. I see clueless girls in them and despair. What's the point? They don't look like jeans and they look tacky as fuck. Shocking.
All Saints jeans? I spend a truly ridiculous amount of money in that shop (I have a tuxedo of theirs, it is WONDERFUL) but I've never got on with the jeans. I buy womens jeans by preference/my weird body shape but they are all a little too flash. Too many zips and sequins and shit. Give me All Saints shirts any day though, they are the thang.

+1 to this thread.
i have a pair of doctor denim jeans that are very hard wearing and stretch. i got them from urban outfitters in covent garden and felt embarrassed queuing up with all the hipsters. worth it though even at £40 a pair.

After years of riding downhill and BMX, my thighs don't allow me the opportunity to follow any fashions, although quite frankly, the idea of skinny jeans appalls me so I'm glad I don't even have that option to consider.
The last two pairs of jeans I bought were Carharrt - regular fit, so straight leg and quite relaxed/baggy. Roll the legs up and you're all set for riding. Both £16 from TK Maxx.
Win.
