  • saw some of you lot, was working with st john ambulance near canary wharf station. was mighty jealous.

  • ?????
sounds a bit idiotic to me.
but i bet you looked cooler than cool.

I am able to control a bike without brakes but not when a copper runs out unannounced on a road which is supposed to be completely clear of all people and traffic. Anyway, you were not there so unless you saw what happened I dont think you should comment. Dont ruin an otherwise fun day with boring drivel about riding brakeless etc....

  • great ride guys, agree the pace was decent other than the odd route-fail (no comments). Was a shame the bomb squad wouldn't allow us down the final stretch. Bit earlier next year yeah!?

PS approx 50 miles before the other half got out of the shower? HTFU enough? Who was it that tried to have a got at the finish, truely told with the comment of 'i didn't see you a the start?'

  • Hey all, really enjoyed my first forum ride, nice to meet some of you - thanks for a great morning!

  • ah nevermind, he looked like the guy who sold me some spokes in Action Bikes in Wimbledon last week, who also had a pista.

no was not me mate, i seem to be mistaken for somebody else quite often! hope that dude sorted you out a good deal, i would have given them to you for free!

  • That was a really good ride.

Sorry to all for my attempts to make us go right by shouting left. - TWAT. Big thanks to all, in particularly the other 5 who bombed it through the WHOLE route, I'm glad only the five of you saw me nearly get KOed by the oncomming lorry.

The atmosphere and attitude from every one was really positive, and it put me in a great mood for the whole day. Its just a shame that Corny took us to the worst greasy spoon in London after - thanks for that :) - GREAT beans!

The first half was the better half, it went a bit downhill after tower bridge. That bit when we went down a one way, 3 lane super road on the may to rotherhide was awsome!

Defo doing that again next year. And next year I'll get a fucking Lucozade!

  • oh I forgot to add the funny as fuck moment a copper jumped out in front of me with his hand up shouting "Stop" to which I replied " I cant stop I have no braaaaakes and I am going fast down a hill, move or I will hit you" managed to stop just past him, but was impossible to stop in time not to hit him, his face was quality.

    That bit was well boss.
Marco had the same dilema. "Kill or ignore"

  • props guys, well done, looks like it was great fun

  • Love bazzr tm's shot with the coppers looking on, as though it's an official ride.

Jealous. Still not buying a tub of flora, though.

  • What an amazing day! I absolutely loved the ride this morning. I love that someone managed to get photos of when we were lost and trying to figure out how to get back to the course!

Brilliant help from everyone and we all had the biggest smiles on our faces as we riding around at a fair old pace.

I then proceeded to follow the entire Marathon and ran along with my fiancees brother a little bit!

Bring on the full course next year.

  • ace ride.......

    i won.

it was a race wasn't it? oh.

  • you certainly won longest and most gratuitous skid!

We should have sprints at alternate mile markers next year. londonfgss green jersey challenge.....

  • yeah ....god knows how i managed that on the ratio i was pulling!

    broken ankles ftw!

  • good times everyone. Glad I made it round the whole of Canary Wharf with Harry and a few
others. I got a few good shots en route which I'll post up when I can face turning my laptop on!

'the whole of canary wharf'.....and some!

Agreed! I was denied my sprint finish by the back end of that pillock's car on trafalgar sq. Luckily not as bad as 'the lorry incident' though. Off to bed now as I'm obviously as hard as a bag of marshmellows.

    Can't wait till next year!

  • Sounds great, guys. Brilliant stuff. A day when the weather was so good even early in the morning that this seemed wonderfully sunny. I'm glad I didn't do it now. It would have been too much for me, but hopefully next time--if there isn't an unfortunate clash again.

    What a day.

  • saw some of you lot, was working with st john ambulance near canary wharf station. was mighty jealous.

Was that you that shouted 'LondonFGSS - Go Onnn!!' or something like that?

in particularly the other 5 who bombed it through the WHOLE route, I'm glad only the five of you saw me nearly get KOed by the oncomming lorry.

One of the highlights of the ride. I can still feel the looming doom of that lorry and your general pinkness in front of it :)

Me too. Me too. That really was stupidly close.

Is it really going to take you a year to recover from this ride?!

  • We [me n Johnny Tang&Leonardo] got diverted too.. somehow made it back on to the route but on the side of the road they weren't using. Kinda racing along side the wheelchairs one point...

We thought we were trying to trace your route? :S

tough luck but fantastic experience nevertheless.
I also have, for some reasons :), a where_do_we_go_from_here_pic to post

He kinda had it coming to him. what did he expect to happen when you suddenly run into the the path of a bunch of cyclists going fast downhill on closed/empty roads.

  • Is it really going to take you a year to recover from this ride?!

Nope all good to go again :)

  • hey guys,

i saw you guys travelling south down west ferry road e14 about 7 am.
