Removing rear brake with bad threading on bolt

Posted on
  • I am trying to remove the rear brake on my bike. Problem is due to rust, and the fact it's not the best rear brake to begin with, the threading on the bolt has completely gone.

Is there any way for me to remove this?

  • Photo?

    Dremel?

  • I am happy to lose the brake in the process. So perhaps I could just cut through brake and its bolt as the threading is completely gone.

  • Had a brake like that on my lady's bike last year, just drilled the shit out of the bolt until it came out. It ruined the drill bit...but it did work.

  • hacksaw between the brake bridge and calliper?

  • My mate has a metal hacksaw so might give that a try.

  • Success with the metal hacksaw. Finally got that brake off. Thanks everyone.
