  • Guys, bear with this newbie, I am REALLY trying to understand this, and have surfed the web and read the transmission database many times by now.

I am set on the Miche advanced cranks, and have ordered them. Now need to order a BB.

As I understand it, I need a BB that is:

    • ISO - square taper , 68mm / English thread

So far so good. But the thing that puzzles me is the axle lenght.

From reading the transmission database, people are using BBs with various lenghts, and I would think the 107 mm suggested by the Miche BB is the 'optimal'?

BTW: I will be using with 120 mm rear hub.

So, the alternatives as I understand them:

    Miche BB, ISO, 107 mm
    Shimano UN54, ISO, 107 or 110 mm
    Campagnolo Centaur 111mm
Campa Chorus (Double tapered?) 102 mm
Campa record Pista 111 mm (Assymetrical?)

Any other BBs to consider? and again, why would I go for a UN54 that was 110, rather than 107? (As I see some people are doing)

Thanks for your help in advance

    Cheers, M
