  • Would be nice for long rides in the country - especially with that view - but there is no way I'd want to be dismounting and remounting that thing at the traffic lights in the city.

What are the reverse penny farthing bicycles, where the rear wheel is the big one? I saw a girl riding one around Arnold Circus.

    Farthing Pennies.

  • Ill keep an eye for you :O

  • trackstanding ?

  • I reckon I could get on one without a step up. Easy.

  • YouTube - How to mount a penny farthing

Jesus Christ that guy is scary. The Mac t shirt makes it even worse.

  • Ricky Hatton look-a-like.

  • there's a penny farthing proudly on display in the window of my village LBS.. I'll get a pic before I come back

  • My (9 year old) cousin asked for a penny farthing for his birthday.

What is the damage to my uncle (apart from his stepson losing his teeth?)

  • I though only folding bikes were allowed on the tube in town?

enjoy riding it, looks like fun

  • District Line is above ground. It's only the deep Tube lines like Central that don't allow bikes (although you can sometimes get away with it anyway).

  • oh yeah! a must to buy thing on my 100 before i die list

    where from, how much?

P.S. they don't seem like a great idea in hilly places...

  • Do a skid...!

  • Saddles too low
    Chains too sla..

    Oh wait

And how would you know that then, Monsieur Rouleur?

  • Plus I had a big discussion about the Tube with a guy who took Central line from Hillingdon to the start of the Easter Classic in east London.

  • Shouldn't be allowed. That's taking up the best part of three seats...

  • I'd smeared my faeces over the rest of the seats in the carriage to avoid any confusion about just who was using this train and who was going to wait for the next one.

  • ah, charlotte, you go to the co-op in south ealing, i have said hi a few times.

That's me! Nice to put another name to a face :-)

  • you should head over west beers sometime.

    and hi

  • Gabes and I just met a nice guy called Alan who was riding a penny farthing in Chelsea. He's interested in meeting suitably likeminded females for fun on asymmetrical wheels. According to his business card he is also into helicopters, rickshaws, tandems, sinclair c5's (sic), coracles and segways and bike polo on grass (surface, not marajuana). PM me for details.

  • Asymmetrical wheels? He must have some monster chalfonts.

  • Bike polo on grass is big in west london, they play over the way from fiddys..

  • Any advice on getting a tandem across London on the tubes then? It's new, don't want to make a seventy-ish mile trial run...
