If it is only a month old (assuming it was new) take it back to the shop, and say it is broken and you want a replacement or your money back.
No doubt it is designed to be pulled up and down, and therfore the end stop should be robust enough to withstand such horseplay.
Having gone through life acepting that stuff breaks from time to time and never complaining, recently I have discovered that if you take it back, you normaly get it replaced with no questions asked.
I am not sugesting you are fraudulent in this activity, but in this day and age, products should be relativly robust and last more than a month, even given mild abuse.
Just my 2ps worth.

What Simon said !
Take it back, you pay extra money for that PARKTOOL name, should last years of abuse being thrown around a workshop or kicked over by people.
And don't let the shop give you any shit about a month being too long to return the product.

No luck on returning it, it's 'normal wear and tear' apparently..
It wasn't the pro park tool one and was only £30, but it's still pretty annoying.. I think I'll get a joe blow now as people on here seem to rate them pretty highly and make sure that i hide it next time we have a party.. Grrrr.

I got that very same pump for £15 from ribble in December.

Go for a Lidls one at £3.50, they are kind of odd but work ok.

Have you managed to get the broken plunger out? What does it look like?
I had a Joe Blow track pump that saw very heavy use (by lots of kids using it to launch water rockets) which broke the plunger away from the rod.
The plastic plunger had a cross-shaped protrusion into the rod, and the rod was crimped to hold it in. The plunger snapped away from the protrusion, which remained in the rod. I drilled a holes up the centre of the plunger and into the bit of protrusion remaining in the rod, and rejoined them with a small screw and plenty of epoxy. It held up to a fair amount more abuse and as far as i know is still going strong.
Sadly i don't have enough of a workshop to be able to offer to repair yours at the moment.

Have you tried emailing Park Tools direct? It doesn't sound like 'wear and tear' to me.

I take it from what he said that the Park Tools pump was simply for illustrative purposes...
Did you tell them what happened to it or something? One month doesn't sound like "normal wear and tear" to me either... it sounds like a piece of crap unit gave out on you. That's the time for a "I don't know what happened, I went to go pump up a tire and the thing pulled right out!" story.

Do this.
You have paid a bit extra for the Parktools name. They should stand by it. Sounds like your bike shop is being a bit poo. If you're not put off Parktools, I can personally recommend this one. Solidly built and with the meter higher up (why dont they all?)

What make of pump is it and how long have you had it? If its only a few months old then it should not break/fail so easily. Email the manufactures and complain and also name and shame the shop if they are acting like dicks.
we had a houseparty on sat and someone helpfully pulled the handle on my track pump all the way out, snapping the plastic inside so that the handle now comes fully out of the barrel..
does anyone know if this is fixable at all? just a bit annoying 'cos i've only had it about a month
i'm guessing that it's not, but i thought that i'd ask..
it's this one:
