ride into the countryside then ride back.
it takes little or no organisation you just do it, thousands do it every weekend.
riding fixed isn't a good enough excuse not to venture beyond the the north/south circular, i can't see the attraction of riding stop start city streets when there is so much good riding around london, you don't even have to go beyond the m25. -

I had an idea.
Its called foxhunting.
A certain forumenger has a chalk attached to their bike at road level, which they then ride aimlessly around London, until someone catches the fucker.
Then switch! The benefit is we can reuse the tweed!
(it might be better in Oxford- which is tiny)

We could do the 'Organising A Ride Ride', but that's not going to happen until we do the 'Organising The Organising A Ride Ride Ride, and we need to make sure that doesn't clash with the 'Organising The Organising The Organising A Ride Ride Ride Ride'...

We could make a list of all the rides that have been ridden and then organise a Ride of the Rides with riders from each of the rides riding all of the rides wearing appropriate clothing from one or more of the rides and with spokecards from all of the rides and the Ride of the Rides in their spokes.
And then we could have tea.

we'd have to post a list of possible tea to drink and venues to drink said tea in.

thats a great idea. can we have a poll of when we think it would be a good time to start the consultation of when the initial bout of organising should start. whoever we feel is the most organised amongst us should be the one that organises the poll. maybe we should have a poll to see who is the most organised.

from experience i would only add that it is important to decide as early as possible whether the ride is going to be called off or not due to weather etc. this is a tough one but it is hard to phone everyone etc at the last minute.
we stopped the tuesday night ride club for the winter after an unfortunate bad weather day when 2 lads turned up in a hail storm after we cancelled at the eleventh hour. apologies all round for that. -

I was out there every Tuesday throughout the entire winter, wondering what the fuck happened to the rest of you. I even waited at the top of every hill.

What an utter, utter, cock you sound.
(I know you won't mind me saying this). -

could make a ride a'la critical mass just a bit smaller, choose a roundabout + more or less 50 cyclists riding around it - great fun with the traffic

there's beena football club ride mooted in the football thread, obviously if you don't like football and don't want to ride round to london's football clubs it may not be for you, but t'would be a good long innercity, suburbs ride...
-
• #43
oh yeah - i forgot - if you are organising a ride it's definately a good idea not to go out in the conditions that we had last night. 8)

You never can tell though Tim. On the morning of the Canterbury ride last year it was hammering it down with rain across all of London, with thunder and lightning. The ride to Canterbury was lovely apart from a couple of minute-long showers.

i think i pulled out of that one , wasn't it the day after the pedalo ? yeah hangover and rain put me off. where's the consistency? lol

Any advice on organising beers? lol

If its a long ride, make sure you bring snacks, bonk is bad! And dangerous to yourself and other riders.
