Aside from Howth, Killiney, and the Dublin Mountain's I can't think of any hills in Dublin. I'd say London and Ireland are equally hilly, at least, I never noticed a difference.
I ride 49 - 15 with 172.5 cranks, so 85.8 inches. I don't do any skids or even slow down with my legs unless its for 'fun'.
