I took it back and got a refund no questions asked (credit due to TheBikeFactory in chester).
It was ridden on the road, but then it is machined. Mavic do say track wheels are only garanteed for track, road wheels for road etc.
I am 6'2", 95kg, and never gone near a curb, just the usual pothole clad roads we have to put up with. It was true until it went.
