• I found setting window widths to be an utter pain in dreamweaver so having played with it I didn't buy it - So you rate 'Word Press' and the 'Joomla' - I like software that is intuitive - do these fit the bill? and its free you say

    Wordpress and Joomla do not run on your own computer, but on your webserver. You log on, you enter content (text/images/videos) and then click publish. Wordpress has lots of prewritten templates which you can use to start out. Once you are proficient in HTML & CSS you could write your own. (Pascalo is right, but only in a really geeky way. I wouldn't worry about how it is written (ie. PHP).)

    Like Ma3K said though, if your emphasis is on learning to design sites properly use a HTML tutorial. If you want to get a website up quickly use a CMS.
