I made a vow that I should never take my front brake off until I actually master riding my bike.
couple years later, I took it off after learning not only skidding, stop skid, trackstand etc. but also how to ride on the street, i.e. assumed that all vehicle on the road are driven poorly, even if they're not.
follow their advice mate, it's worth it.
